Do any of you have a friend who, if they called you at 8:45 at night, asked you what the 2nd Ammendment is, then hung up, would think that was a little odd but perfectly normal for them? Thanks Kare, for just answering and laughing. :)

For those of you who think politics is impolite conversation, please stop reading for fear you think me rude.

I was coming down off the Mexico high yesterday when I picked up my mail and found an envelope from Dr. Bill Frist. So far I have asked my mother and my grandfather and neither of them knew who he was. My father knew right away. The answerer of my 2nd Ammendment question may know as well, although she may be spitting and thinking about it. :) So, I opened the envelope and read the letter, which began....

"Dear Jennifer:

Your immediate attention is required on a confidential and time-sensitive matter sponsored by the NRSC - National Republican Senatorial Committee."

Which is probably why I was embarassed I have NO opinion on 3 of the things mentioned.(Which, by the way includes the above mentioned 2nd Ammendment b/c I argue both sides with myself.) For trying not to get too sidetracked for what this blog was supposed to ramble about, I will tell you the one thing about which I DID know how I felt. The blank space for my thoughts. You guys know how well I fill those! :)

The Republican Party is in fear of dying out. Now, I am not completely in line with everything they believe (take abortion for instance), but there is alot I like. Unfortunately I like the general idea of the Democratic party too. In case none of you ever notcied it, I like to help other people. The Deomcrats say they do too. It appeals to alot of people. Especially those in a lower socioeconomic status. The Republicans, on the other hand, look like the "rich, powerful white men" they are predominently. And they're not drawing any young people into the Party. Taking too much of an arrogant stand on the power they do have and not realizing that when most of them die, the party begins to die out with them.

The blank space was well filled, believe you me. I tried campaigning, tried volunteering to help the Party suck in new life :) but I obviously didn't try hard enough because they haven't responded to me. Maybe I will try a different way. Being more vocal about the things I DO believe and being loyal to my party...even if they aren't always loyal to me.
