"Hero" as defined in Webster's Dictionary..."1 a mythological or legendary figure of great strength or ability..2 a man admired for his achievements and qualities..3 the chief male character in a literary or dramatic work". I believe we as Americans usually refer to soldiers as definition #2. They do expect to go into wars and I believe that makes them a "hero" in the first place to knowing they might possibly put their lives on the line for other human beings. I admire my husband, Sgt. Ron Long, for his achievements, for his sacrifice, for his qualities. I admire firemen and policemen for their qualities and sacrifices. They are all heroes to me. Who are your heroes? What definition of "hero" are you talking about? Are you someone's "hero"? My husband is my hero, he is our family's hero, And many other people think of him as so. He has helped working saving lives not only in the military life but in his civilian life as well. My husband is my FAVORITE HERO! :)

Some Days I liked my site better when it was just friends, family and invited guests. :) (Not meant in a malicious way, just factual.)Some Days I enjoy knowing that people I don't know feel my thoughts and comments are worth reading.

Since she stopped by (and is definately an "invited guest")...Hi Mrs. Long! :) I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your husband for all the reasons I believe he wrote some of what he did...I was looking for the side to Iraq I'd heard numerous soldiers report on and support that our lovely media never did. I found it in his site. I admired his viewpoint and his hope that his site and words would convey a message not in the public eye. His desire to make sure everyone knew what many of our military in Iraq see and experience. I was drawn in by his love for his family, his passion for his work and the closeness for his fellow soldiers, and all armed forces serving with him. These are definately qualities falling under #2 of your description. :)

I'd love to hear about everyone elses' heroes. Please let me know who and why. Mine include my father, my grandmother..well most of my family and my friends...all for various reasons and because they all embody qualities I admire and even sometimes am jealous of, Helen Keller, Gandhi, and Mother Teresa, just to name a few. The word hero is so often thrown around, but really could quite describe those we hold most dear. At least, in my case, this is true. Mrs. Long (wow, I don't know if I could handle being a "Mrs.", not just for the marriage aspect - which is a story for later-but for the fact I feel like I'm writing to a friend's mother! :) ), Happy Thanksgiving! :)
